Art

I can’t get it out

it won’t come out

won’t let me go

won’t leave me alone

This splinter

this fishook

this cork

this saltwater lifestyle that soaks my soul.

I can’t get it out

crack me like a walnut

and suck out the meat

do whatever

I don’t care

just set me free

cleanse me

until you give me the cutters

I am bound here, chained to this

diving board

bouncing.

I just want to dive

I just want to float

let me go

set me free

I am not sure exactly why, but this reminds me so strongly of an old song, “Dive” Loved the images in your poem and the urgency of wanting to be set free. This is worth reading many times, focusing on different details and emotions. Great poem.
